Introduction

For over 15 years the KPK province of Pakistan has been struct by terrorism resulting in loss of over 50 thousand innocent people. Being under trained, the KPK police have faced enormous challenges in investigating the crime scenes and gathering proper proofs. Not having adequate scientific methods of training of Police officers makes the suspect identification and justice system very time consuming .
We at Moogle Studio are working on a VR training program to combat the problem of growing terrorism and ineffective investigative measures on part of police services. We believe our VR based training system will raise the investigation standards and methodologies of KPK police to that of the world class police in developed countries.

Platform for Development

Unreal Engine

Unreal Engine has undoubtedly been the first choice for our VR project. Unreal Engine 4 has no match to its strong visuals and realistic graphics in market. The visual scripting (Blueprints) makes it easy to achieve programming tasks quickly while the access to C++ source code makes it’s extremely flexible for any sort of modifications. The easy to use built-in editors, landscapes creation tools, strong particles and materials and easy to use animations is what we were looking for in our project.

 HTC Vive

HTC Vive

The HTC Vive is a virtual reality headset developed by HTC and Valve Corporation. The headset uses “room scale” tracking technology, allowing the user to move in 3D space and use motion-tracked handheld controllers to interact with the environment. Since HTC Vive requires one time calibration, it has been chosen as the VR headset for our project.

HTC Vive will be preferred for this project

“Virtual reality is the ‘ultimate empathy machine.’ These experiences are more than documentaries. They’re opportunities to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.”
